Diversity is important to us: Send us your articles!
Berliner Zeitung stands for a diversity of voices, opinions and perspectives. This means that we don’t just want to report from our journalists‘ perspective. And this is exactly the reason why Open Source exists: thanks to the portal anyone and everyone can write for our newspaper and be reimbursed for the articles we choose to publish.
This is how it works – laid out in four steps:
Step 1: You have something to say.
We want to know what motivates you, what you feel passionate about. We are particularly interested in:
- how you view our city: Have you experienced something in Berlin that you find concerning or upsetting? Do you have an expert opinion on any of the challenges our city is facing? We welcome insider tips, love declarations, even expressions of anger…
- perspectives from around the world: Do you live somewhere other than Berlin or Germany and can share with us how the world is viewed there? What topics are being discussed? Are you familiar with discourses outside Germany? Help us broaden our horizons.
- stories that are otherwise left untold: stories journalists don’t show interest in, voices that are not being heard. Tell us about them!
Step 2: Write an article.
Your article should be thoroughly researched, your arguments well-founded, your language clear and understandable. The length of your text should not exceed 10.000 characters (spaces included). We are also happy to accept shorter pieces. In exceptional cases we also accept interviews in a Q&A format. Here you can read more on the articles, the conditions and the fees.

Step 3: Send us your article.
This link takes you to the page where you can send us your article. If this is your first time, you will have to register first.
Step 4: We contact you.
All contributions will be read and reviewed by our editorial team. Our own editorial content is being taken into consideration during these process, so that your article does not overlap with our own relevant coverage. We will inform you of our decision whether your article will be published or not. If we accept your submission, we will let you know what comes next.
